Responsibilities:

  • Manage simple QuickBooks (QB) bookkeeping tasks, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately in three subsidiaries.
  • Handle consolidation processes on a quarterly basis for external financial reporting purposes.
  • Oversee banking activities, including bi-monthly payment runs, fund transfers, short term deposits, and other related tasks. Familiarity with Scotia platform an advantage.
  • Process payments in a timely and accurate manner, following appropriate approvals from within the team. Key point of contact for this and for vendor correspondences
  • Administer payroll, ensuring all employees are paid correctly and on time, , and include annual tax return reporting (small # employees at present with plans to grow).
  • Prepare the first draft of financial statements and related working papers for note disclosures.
  • Support the creation of working papers and other documentation to back up financial statements.
  • Coordinate and prepare all necessary financial documents and records for year-end audits and interim reviews.
  • Review findings from audits and tax preparations, suggesting and implementing changes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in future financial cycles.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of annual tax returns, ensuring all financial data is accurate and compliant with tax regulations. Collaborate with external tax consultants as needed.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and other finance team members to streamline processes and improve financial reporting.
  • Stay abreast of current accounting best practices, regulations, and standards, ensuring the company remains compliant.

Requirements:

  • CPA or equivalent designation, or near completion.
  • Experience: Min 3 years experience in bookkeeping, consolidation, and financial management.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the mining industry is preferred.
  • Experience with flow through share tracking and reporting with be considered an advantage. 
  • Analytical Proficiency: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with QuickBooks and financial reporting tools.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Team Player: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
